LaShelle,

I have a quick question.  Isn't alcohol off-limits for most weight loss patients?  I thought it was a little unusual tht they would be serving wine and cheese.

I thought the same, but I thin this is for massive weight loss with surgery and non-surgical methods.  Also some post ops drink moderately when they're further out.  My surgeon reccomended 6 months. I cheated and started a little early.

I have a drin****asionally,  once or twice a month. I just don't overdo it.  Especially if I know I'll be driving.

If you are concerned about drinking, I'd ask your surgeon 1st.  Plus, I'm sure they'll have some non alcoholic choices too.   I definitely wouldn't experiment the 1st time out in public though.

Thanks LaShelle.  That makes sense.  Drinking is not an issue.  Too many other things to deal with.

Oops, i see u just had your surgery last week.    I  haven't been good keeping up with everybody lately with the holidays.   How are you doing?

Seeing you're so soon out, I am guessing you definitely won't be ready to be drinking next month!!!

I am doing great!  thanks for asking.  I cannot believe the ease of the recovery.  Most of the discomfort is gone.  I have no interest in food and no desire to eat.  Struggling to get in all the protein and water.  I am up to 60 grams of protein and 40 oz. of water and am consuming all vitamins.

I have only had one bout of nausea since surgery (after drinking a protein shake on Sunday eve.).  My only problem has been an 11 lb weight gain in the hospital.  Despite that I already feel "smaller" if that makes sense.  All in all, not bad for a 58+ year old woman.  LOL

Sounds like you're doing great. 40 oz of water is a little low though unless some of the protein is liquids that you're not counting towards the water?

The weight gain will go away rapidly, it's probably from surgery meds.   You'll be skinny before you know it.

The thought of being skinny!!!!!  Whoa.

All of the protein is from iiquids.  I am not counting any of the protein in the 40 oz. nor am I counting any jello, sugar free popsicles or anything like that.  I have not had any tea since surgery.

Trying to bump the water up.  Just struggling to find the room.

Well, you're doing great!  Tea should be cool as long as you use splenda.   I couldn't have made it my 1st  few weeks w/out tea especially warm.
