I have not had any issues with flare ups from my RA since before surgery and have not had to take anything for pain until the past two weeks. Does anyone know of a rheumatologist that has experience dealing with RNY patients? I know we are limited on what we can take and anything my rheuma prescribes is a no no to my surgeon's office and the surgeons don't deal with this. Help! Thanks.

My current rheumatologist works out of Piedmont but she is just not sure about meds post surgery. I will call and see if there is another one that is. Thank you for your response.

Piedmont Hospital was recommended.  If you see Kimberly Wilson or Hayes Wilson at Piedmont, you'd be in good hands.  I know of a lupus patient who had RNY many years ago who uses/used Kimberly Wilson.

My rheumie is Dr. Gary Myerson at Northside.  He's excellent, but not accepting new patients.  When I started my journey to pursue WLS, I made sure he was on-board with the whole process.  He was and even wrote a "killer" letter for my insurance company.  But he specifically told me we would work together to adjust things as needed post-surgery.  For pain, I take Darvocet and it works well for me.  His partner, Dr. Sutej is highly respected, but I don't know if he's worked with any/many RNY patients.

Beyond that, I can give you all the names of the crappy rheumies in the metro Atlanta area?  Just curious, who do you currently use?
