Anemic Pre-surgery

I went to my PCP today and I am anemic.  No surprise.  She said that I could be denied the surgery if I remained anemic.  Has anyone ever heard of this?  I am having out patient surgery next week to help control my heavy periods, which should correct my anemic issue.

How far along in the process are you and how anemic?  Fingers crossed the surgery works to clear up your issues.  Anemia is not much fun.

My insurance doesn't change over until Janaury.  I have attended two support meetings and have been meeting with my PCP for my diet.  I had the sleep test and have sleep apnea and high BP.  I have a consult with my surgeon in January.  I figured I'd do what I can now to reduce the wait time.  I'm a few points away from where I need to be.  My PCP tinks that the uterine ablation will correct the anemia problem.
Would they deny me based on that?

That's not grounds for denial to my knowledge but if it's really bad, your surgeon may work with you pre surgery to get it where it needs to be or at least on the upswing beforehand.

it's not really bad.  I think my PCP is tired of me being anemic and wants it to get under control.  Hopefully my uterine ablation will take care of it.
