My 1st post-op Thanksgiving
Well, this will be my 1st Thanksgiving since my DS. I will be 4 months out. Wow, what a whirlwind these past months have been. I went from feeling ok, to feeling crappy, to feeling great now. I can say I have officially bondd with my DS and I LOVE MY DS!!! It definitely was no love at 1st sight, but now I can say me and the DS are a match made in heaven.
I am so glad I can do normal food now. I am looking forward to turkey, ham, and dressing, cranberry sauce and my mom's red velvet cake and sweet potato pies. And my sister makes the best pecan pie with double nuts and half the jelly filling.
So, I wonder how this Thanksgiving will be different? I guess I'll have energy for the family walk around the neighborhood, and I can chase my nephews around the house. I still look back and can't believe how big I was.
The food issue doesn't bother me, since I can eat regular stuff, and I won't stick out like I was early out when I had more restriction.
I am happy, and I am very thankful for my new life Dr. Houston gave me.
So, how will this Thanksgiving be different for you? Early outs do you need support with recipe ideas or anything? Are you aprehensive about seeing people who haven't seen you since you lost weight? Please share what's going on with you this week.

This will also be my first Thanksgiving since my RNY. I will be 5 months out by Thanksgiving and can eat most anything as long as it has low sugar and fat. I plan on having plenty of turkey, and a "little" of everything else, even if its just a spoonful, I do plan on sampling the stuffing and casseroles. I won't be doing desserts unless it is sugar free. That is one thing I plan on trying to eliminate forever is my sugar and fried foods. Those two things made me fat and I am "leaving" them behind and will figure out other alternatives.
Then I do plan on taking a long walk to hopefully help with the extra calories I consume.

Starting: 370, Current: 198.5, Goal: 190
I will be 10 days out from RNY surgery on Thanksgiving day therefor I will still be on liquids.
It's all good though, because for the first time I can remember, I not hungry. I am not cooking. My husband is bar-b-cuing the turkey and I told everyone that is coming to bring a dish. I am still busy trying to get in liquids and protein, so I will always be consuming something. I am just glad to be far enough away from surgery that I will be well enough to enjoy my family. I can sit and visit with family while sipping a nice hot cup of chicken broth and be just fine!
I am already thankful to just wake up from anesthesia and have this great tool that will help me avoid hypertension, diabetes and being in a wheel chair. YEA!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I have always cooked a big spread for 30 or more and we always used the best dishes. This year I bought paper plates, and plastic cups and cutlery. I will provide the large garbage can in which to place them!
I just want to focus on family and thankfulness.
I might just decide to do it like this every year! Much less stress!

Most of my differences are less food related and more self confidence related. I'll be in pictures, I'll be talking to people, etc.
My band is pretty much empty and while I can't eat a lot, I can still eat what most would consider a healthy amount. If I still had all my fluid, my plate would look pretty much empty... a small piece of ham and a dollop of one or two sides. That's fine with me, I just hate it when people look at me funny for not putting a ton of food on my plate. I'll have a little bit of a few things and save room for that sweet potato casserole I only get once a year from my stepdads mom lol. I'll probably only have a few nibbles of 1-2 different desserts whereas before I'd have a portion of 2-3 different desserts.
I'll be in the mountains and unless they put railings up the side of the trail behind my moms (that goes up a mountain), I won't be going for any walks lol. Even the driveway is a dangerous trek. It'd be awesome if it snowed... so long as it doesn't cause the roads to close so I can still get back home and do my black friday shopping!!
