Pulmonologist Reference
If you are pushing for Dec., look for a pulmonologist who does not have DIRECT TIES TO A SLEEP CLINIC! My first visit to the pulmonologist (which was my last step before my presurgical stuff) was in July...my date is in Dec. I went into Southeastern Lung Care, and lucked up on the one doctor (out of eight) who runs the sleep clinic. (My two surgery buddies also went to Southeastern, but got different doctors and got immediate clearance). One had an ASTHMA ATTACK during the testing...cleared that day, the other had a previous diagnosis of sleep apnea, but never went to the follow up or got CPAP machine, cleared the same day. I on the other hand had to go through 2 sleep studies, 2 visits with the sleep technician, a CPAP machine, and 3 office visits. This took an additional three months...All to get a clearance with no reference at all to my CPAP machine, or newly discovered apnea. So 6,000 bucks worth of claims to my insurance, and 7 visits to the pulmonologist and her sleep clinic...to be told I have sleep apnea, and that once I had the surgery there was a good chance that it would be cleared up!!! So look at the practice, see who would directly benefit from you doing a barrage of tests and sleep studies, and avoid them if you are interested in getting surgery in Dec. None of the physicians posted on this post appear to fall into this category. Good luck!
