I'm only 2 months out and I'm having cravings for a sandwich.  I havent had any type of baked foods such as bread, muffins, or cakes.  I'm too afraid to dump so things with sugar is so off the list.  But a turkey and cheese sandwich sounds so good right about now.....

Please help.....

I used to get those thoughts too.  When I "thought" I was craving something like that I would put the meat and cheese on a plate and heat them in the microwave.  I ate them that way and it was SO good.

If you have been cleared from your doctor to have bread I would try a whole grain bread toasted first and see how you tolerate it. You will find that even though you are craving things that as soon as you try them the crave goes away and alot of times you won't be able to eat but a very small portion of it..hope this helps

I craved limes w/ salt for weeks post op. I feel your pain. Ask yout nutritionist if bread is ok. Maybe you can have it on a cracker and it will go down better?

I can do bread ok, but have trouble drinking w/ bread. I  can drink with everything else ok???

btw I don't think we've met before. Could you introduce yourself to the board please.

What type of surgery did you have?  A lot of your diet depends on what type of surgery you had.  You really should talk to your nutritionist or doctor.

I didn't have anything close to a sandwich until I was a year out.  Steer clear of them.  Believe/trust me.  You don't want to open that can of worms.

My surgeon does not permit bread for the first six months but check to see if your says its ok.  Try and stick with low carb whole grain types.  Beware, for many people carbs start a cycle of carb cravings that can derail your new eating habits.
