Are the coaching sessions still required for Cigna or is that the 6 month support group meeting requirement?

I am not sure. They waived the new requirements for people who had already started the pre-op requirements. My advice is to call Cigna and get the info from them, then get it in writing from the website. Print and save it. and use it for verification in case they decide to change things when you're in the middle of your pre-op stuff. Make them stick to whatever the requirements are the day you start the process.

Hi Hope,
I have Cigna and had my surgery on the 13th. I had to have the coaching. It is a phone call that takes about 30 minutes. I also had to have the six month support group meetings but they were waived because I started the process before March 12, 2009. I also had to have the six month diet with my doctor.

The coaching is available for a year but they will not work with you until a year after the surgery but they send a great box of goodies to help you lose weight. I got this small playe wit portion sizes on it. During the six month diet, it helped.

Hope this helped you!!

So is the coaching mandatory?  My insurance doesn't change until January so I'll then to find out if there are any changes.
Did it take you longer than six months for the whole process, if so, why?
