OK SO I NEED SOME HELP. I HAD SURGERY ON JULY 13 09 THAT WAS ABOUT 4MTHS AGO. I WAS ORIGINALLY 255LBS AND NOW 184LBS THAT IS A 71LB DROP. DON'T GET ME WRONG I'M VERY HAPPY TO LOSE THE WEIGHT BUT I'M SO SCARED I WILL LOSE WAY TOO MUCH. MY GOAL IS 155LBS AND I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD EVEN LET IT GO THAT FAR. I'M NOW IN A YOUTH SIZE 13 AND I DON'T THINK 30 MORE LBS WOULD BE GOOD ON ME. I HAVE READ THAT PEOPLE LOSE WEIGHT FOR UP TO 1YR AND MY QUESTION FOR MY FELLOW OH'ERS IS WHAT DO YOU DO TO STOP THE WEIGHT LOSS? I HAVE READ OF THOSE THAT ARE NOW FIGHTING TO STAY ALIVE LIKE THIS ONE GIRL THAT IS NOW FIGHTING TO STAY OVER 100LBS SHE IS NOW UNDERWEIGHT AND I DON'T WANT THAT SO ANY HELPFUL INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I think that is normal for rny.  I had my surgery July 28 and am at 85 punds down and still steadily losing.    I worry about losing too much too, but I started at 330, so I have a lot more room to go.

You should talk to your nutritionist. Maybe once you get to your goal weight you can increase calories?

Hi Sassie,
You are doing great, but I can see why you would be concerned.  I would discuss it with your surgeon and nutritionist.  How tall are you?  Do you exercise a lot?  What is your calorie and water intake?  Your body should adjust to your weight loss and slow down on its own, but all things considered, you should still talk to your surgeon and nut.  Best of luck to you!

I had surgery 5 1/2 years ago.  I had surgery in mid May of 04 and by mid October of 04 I was down 88 pounds.  By the time I was 6 months out I was down 100 pounds.  At my 1 year appointment, I was down 120 pounds.  The weight definitely slowed down near the end.  I think you should talk to your nutritionist but as long as you are following your plan and taking all your vitamins like you should, you shouldn't have TOO much to worry about.
