You may want to research him on the medical review board before you choose a surgeon.

If I am not mistaken (I am with the SHBP on UHC HRA), you have to call and speak with a bariatric representative before you start the process.  They will then give you all of the info you need to get started, inclusing surgeons and hospitals in the network.  If you haven't done that yet, you might want to soon.  If you have already done so, sorry for repeating the info.

I have also chosen Dr. Macik.  He came highly recommended, and I loved the seminar he had on weight loss surgery.

Good luck!

The process w/ Cigna is different. We don't get enrolled in any bariatric program.  But they will assign you a case manager if you request one.

Also, if you don't already have ther HRA you can go ahead and start your pre-op stuff now with Cigna and they will pay for your pre-op visits, jut not the surgery itself.

I switched to Cigna HRA for January.  I currently have UHC HMO.  I started the six month diet and support groups.  I have high blood pressure and I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea.  I have an appt with Dr. Macik in January.  Is there anything else that I can do now to knock stuff out of the way under my current insurance that you know of?
