I've been wondering about these foods
Olives? Pickles? Popcorn? Beef/Turkey/Deer jerky? Peanut butter? Boiled peanuts?
sugar free sweets (cookies)?
How do I get in all my water when I forget to drink? And then by the time I remember to drink, it is time to eat and then I can't drink cause I gotta eat. I'm learning. I just get really full when I drink and then I don't want it any more or I just forget about it. I used to gulp water, like standing at the water fountain with a water bottle and drinking like a fish, and now I can't do that. I don't really like water and I am just about sick of crystal light. And yes, I want some cheese to go with my whine! I try to drink that protein water K2O. It's not as sweet as crystal light. I do like it, but I'm just getting tired of it.
Any suggestions??

I enjoy all the foods above except the deer jerkey.
I'm not sure about the water, because with DS you can drink with meals and don't have to wait, and I can still gulp like before. If it weren't for gulping I would have never got a protein shake down. Eew gross! Can't imagine sipping them things!
I think you will find when you are a few more months out you wil be able to eat almost anything. Just don't rush yourself and try to stick with the doctor's plan for at least the 1st couple of months while your tummy is healing.
When I was early out warm liquids were easier to get down. Do you like warm tea or sugar free hot chocholate?

The food will probably depend on your surgeon's plan.
I use some dill pickles(no sugar) now in different things. I read about other people eating jerky, but I don't know when you could start it.
My surgeon doesn't want us eating olives, peanuts or peanut butter due to the calories and fat content. Popcorn we can have after 3 months, I think, but I'm sure it is not the kind I like to eat with butter on it!!
I get my water in by using 4 of the 20 ounce Sam's choice water bottles each day. I always have one on my desk. I have to drink 1 - 2 before lunch and then the rest after lunch at work before I go home. I used to love the Great Value type of Crystal Lite, but right after surgery it was just too sweet for me. Now I can drink it again and I use that in one of my waters in the morning. The rest I just drink plain. Now it is just a habit to steadily drink all day. I have to wait 30 - 45 minutes after meals and have tried to stop drinking 30 minutes before meals because it fills me up and I don't want to eat anything.
Good luck.
Linda
