Hi, I'm new with a question about hospitals...
My first post on OH. I have been lurking for a while. I still don't have my approval, but it should (!) come soon.
I have a choice between Northside and Emory John's Creek. I would love to hear feedback on both with pros/cons. I really have no idea which one to choose, or if it will make much of a difference.
Thanks!

Hi... welcome. I too had Dr. Macik and had my choice of hospitals. SInce I live 1/2 mile from Emory JC that's where I had it. No problems except the weekend nurse was oh not sooo nice.
Otherwise, I had a private room and great care.... the surgeon is the very important person and I have had no complications.
So it just depends what's convienent for family/freinds to visit... good luck

I used Emory John's Creek also. I didn't have any problems with the staff. I had a private room, which was nice - I think? I really don't remember much about the hospital.
Across the United States, in 2006, twice as many people died from lack of health insurance as died from homicide.
"This is my one and only life, and it's a great and terrible and short and endless thing, and none of us come out of it alive."
I think both are good hospitals. Is it possible for you to visit each beforehand and get a mini tour? I did this at Centennial and it was comforting surgery day because I had already met a few of the nurses and was familliar with the layout and the room. When I woke up after being wheeled to my room I already felt like I was home because I had been there and checked it out.
We also were able to map out parking, cafeteria, gift shop, etc which made getting there at the crack of dawn less stressful. Plus I knew my family would be comfortable and would be taken care of while I was in surgery because they knew where everything was in the hospital.
