Psych_rainbow:  Small, small world!!    My husband works at CSX in Waycross.

It would be nice if there were more on the boards who were from South Georgia, so that we could form our own support group.

Hi All, I am Buffy. I am a married mom of 2 girls 22 and 8. We just celebrated our 25th this year but I didn't plan anything exotic or exciting because of my weight. I had researched the  (RNY) surgery for years and really became interested when my sister had surgery 3 years ago. I prayed for the solution to my extreme weight of 325 lb. and got my answer last fall during open enrollment. I had my surgey on 9/8/09 with Dr. Duncan. I had no issues whatsoever and healed quickly only missing one week of work. I honestly feel the same as before surgery with the exception of eating a max of 2 Tbs. per meal. I followed the post op diet notes to a T so I never got sick (knock on wood). The weight is (seems to me) slow to come off. I can wear clothes I haven't worn in years but only lost about 15 lbs. since surgery. I am about 35 down since two weeks before. I know, I know I need to walk more and am working on that. The Doc said I am eating, drinking, and taking supplements exactly as I should so it has to be the walking. My journey has just begun and I have miles to travel. I look forward to my destination. See you all soon at a Meet n Greet.

Hi everyone,
My name is Patti and I am 59 years old and for almost 8 years, I have been married to the most wonderful, supportive, handsome, and sexy man on earth.  I am a medical office administrator and have one son and three stepsons.  We have 7 grandchildren which are the loves of our life.  I breed and show Brittanys and have a beautiful litter of puppies that are 9 weeks old.
I had the old "stomach stapling" when I was 34.  No support groups, dietary counseling, etc.  Needless to say I failed miserably,,,,,,,,I was ready, but my mind wasn't.  I tried for RNY 5 years ago and had all of the pre-op and even had a date set when I got a call from the insurance company telling me they made a mistake and it was a written exclusion!!  I was devastated and it took this long to try again.
I went for my consult with Dr. Celio Burrowes the end of January and had surgery March 17, 2009.  I have lost 102 lbs and feel amazing.  I even have a couple of pair of size 12 pants that FIT!  I have had no complications so far, my labs are great, and I feel like this is the best thing I could have done for myself.  I LOVE MY RNY!  Best of luck to everyone on their weight loss journey.

Patti

 Hi all,

My name is Ariane and I work as a nurse at the state health department.  I have UHC HRA and had my surgery July 13, 2009 (lucky 13 for me!).   I had RNY at Emory Johns Creek - Dr. Wm. Johnson.  My experience has been great so far, no complications.  Down 44 pounds - not as fast as some but I am very pleased with my progress. No more CPAP, no more back pain or knee pain and having fun checking out all the Goodwill stores in metro ATL!.  One of the loves of my life (besides DH! and my four rescue dogs) is my horse No Malarkey.  I think she appreciates my weight loss as much as I do!  I don't post much because my job is crazy right now but check in on you all often.  Thanks to LaShelle and Talk Soup for all the guidance and support.  Made my trip to surgery so much easier!
