Roll Call Hello Hello is there any life out there???????
This is my favorite time of the year. I love the cool weather and the last of the summer flowers. I also like that toere isn't pollen and bugs like in spring.
So OH family, what's been going on with you? Take a minute to introduce yourself, reintroduce yourself, and up date us on your wls status. What's going on in your bneck of the woods? Are you looking forward to anything special this month in your life?
I'm LaShelle, I am 34, live in Stockbridge w/ my teen-aged son who is a senior in HS this year. I work for the State of GA ad a social worker.
I had my DS surgery 2 months ago and have lost 65 pounds from my high weight of 330. I have gone from a 26/28 to 18/20.
I struggled about a month out with protein intake and lack of energy, but I am feeling better and better every day.
I enjoy shopping, especially thrift stores, Goodwill, yard sales, etc. I found 5 really nice lightweight sweaters this morning at Goodwill and 3 shirts at a church yard sale yesterday. I am buying large and XL stuff now can you believe it?
I also love to travel, even if it's to the next town over. Give me a destination and a tank of gas and I am down for whatever. I love cruising. I am planning a Mediterranean cruise for next year. I also have always wanted to visit Paris since I was a little girl. I will be 35 next year and God whispered in my ear that 2010 may be the time for me to go. I wouldn't have considered it at 330 lbs, since Europeans walk a lot and they're not as fat as us. I would stick out like a sore thumb at 330. Plus, I don't think any of the clothes over there are plus sized. Do you know how heartbreaking it would be to go to France and not be able to buy cute clothes??? Who needs cheese and wine when you can get a designer sample at a fraction of the cost in Paris where they designed it?
I used to sew a lot, and I have been promising myself I would take in some of my clothes that are getting too big, but shopping for new stuff is just too much fun!
The next few months I am looking forward to the holidays!
October, I look forward to the foster children trick or treating in our office. They're so cute and so appreciative. They're usually good kids. Not BaeBae's kids. Their parents just suck. I al also spending a day with a couple of my OH girlfiends and going to the apple festival in Ellijay on the 17th. Do I even like apples post-op?
November, I am also looking forward to Thanksgiving. I am the queen of black Friday. Can you believe me and my sister are already discussing our strategy??? For us shopping is a sport we have down to a science.
And of course the OH event is coming up in November!!! I can't wait to hear Dr. Davis and Ms Rapini. I love that show Big Medicine. I am planning a pajama party in my room at the Marriott November 6. If you're a good little girl you may get invited.
I have started buying stuff to decorate my office for Christmas. Have you noticed I mentioned shopping like 4 times already. I think shopping is my transferred addiction. I am also working with some OH friends on planning our OH Christmas Meet N Greet. It has tentatively been scheduled for Saturday, December 12. We are still scouting locations, so if you have any suggestions PLEASE PM me.
To sum it up, today life is good. I am feeling better about my DS, and am a lot less likely to take a nosedive off the I-75 overpass.
Okay I am babbling, but it's raining and I am feelng lazy and trying to make excuses not to unload the dishwasher and blogging to you guys was as good of an excused as any...

They say with this u spend less on food (they forget to tell u the part about u spend more on this other stuff..........lol).
That's about it for now...............
This board has been rather quiet lately. Thanks for trying to liven it up.
My name is Stacy, I'm 29 (ugh) and I live in Decatur. I work at Emory and do accounting work. I had RNY in April with Dr. Ahad Khan at Emory John's Creek. I've lost 76 lbs since surgery, 86 lbs since March, and 114 lbs from my highest in 2005. I was hoping to be under 200 by my 6 month follow up, but that's next week and it doesn't look like I'll make it, but I'm pretty darn close and pleased with my progress so far.
I have been to a couple of meet and greets but missed the last one. I was hoping to make it to the next one, but the weekend it's scheduled I will be in a friend's wedding. The wedding is the 25th and on the 26th I'm going to IRELAND! I'm so excited and can't wait. I went the first week in November last year (I was there on election day, it was so enlightening to see it in another country, but I made sure to mail in my vote well in advance!). Last year when I went I couldn't walk up the steps of Blarney Castle to the Blarney Stone. The space to get up there is so small and the stairs are incredibly steep. This year I'm hoping I can make it! I'm still not in the best shape, but I'm better than I was! And no, I won't be kissing it because they won't let me spray it with Lysol first, but at least I'll be able to get to it.
I'm also contemplating a big move if I can find a job. My big sister from college is moving to Buffalo next week and I'm thinking about moving up there. So many things have changed for me this year and I feel like now is the time to do it. I have been wanting to move up north for years.
This weekend has been spent cleaning out my closet and listing items on ebay and taking other stuff to goodwill. I guess since I'm thinking about moving, I'm trying to get rid of some of my crap! lol, sometimes that mood hits me anyway, kind of like random spring cleaning fits.
Across the United States, in 2006, twice as many people died from lack of health insurance as died from homicide.

OMG - I think we are sisters!!! As I was reading your post, it was like I was reading what I'd write. Love yard sales & thrift stores. I so love a bargain! (My DH claims that I'd buy something just to tell people how much of a bargain it was.) not exactly.
And we plan for Black Friday for weeks in advance. Yes, there is a science to it. And I am with the precept that if you're gonna be grumpy on Black Friday, stay at home. You know what it's gonna be like when you go - so have a positive attitude about it. Last year, we didn't even go to sleep Thanksgiving night - plotting - couldn't sleep - so....off we went to get the 'lay of the land' at Wal-Mart. (we live in a small town) It's seriously an adrenaline rush!
Oh, and just call me the cruise queen. I LOVE CRUISING! Would do it twice a year if I could afford it. I've even thought about hinting to my DH about doing a cruise when I hit goal.
So...here's the rest about me.
I'm married. I have 2 sons - one is 18 and does not live at home. The other is 9 and in the 4th grade. He plays basketball and is currently learning to play piano.
I am a nurse - currently working in Ambulatory Surgery and PACU. I'm also a labor & delivery nurse. I've worked at our hospital for 10 yrs.
I attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I was just approved Friday to have Lap Band. Dr Scott Davis with Emory Bariatrics will perform my surgery. The office is supposed to call Tuesday to set up tests, group nutrition classes, etc. I expect to have surgery sometime in November.
I love reading the GA boards - I live in South Georgia & wish I lived closer so I could attend the meet & greets.
Of course, I love shopping - especially the clearances/thrift stores/yard sales. I love to travel. Love the beach. And love cruising! I would love to travel out west to see the Salt Lake Temple, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc.
Great idea for a thread!
They have the typical cheap import stuff booths, but also a good amount of locals that come and set up for the weekend. I love those booths where you dig and never know what you're going to find.
I am such a yard sale fanatic I woke up 7:00 am last month in Panama City hunting yard sale signs. My son was convinced I was insane. A month out from surgrey in a strange city hunting yard sales!!! I was barely on solid food, but the yard sales were calling me.
I did find a cute plant for $.50 cent, 2 necklaces for a dollar and a candle holder. Oh and some fishing equipment for him. I wasn't so crazy when I bought the fishing lures back. I have also yardsaled in Savannah, Myrtle Beach, Ohio. If I see a sign I just have to stop. It's more fun bringing home yardsale stuff than a tee shirt or a keychain!
