Good Evening All,
Today is 5 days Post Op, I can't believe it's gone by so fast, anyway, last night hubby made me some tasty mashed potatoes, with chicken broth, they were too thick i got down 2 bites and was miserable the rest of the night with gas and bloating. So today I've felt ok, Got down some protein and water only and am still feeling really bloated. I know it's probably something everyone goes through, just wanted to make sure..

Also- let me just add  These people called my family eating around me.. LOL they have to stop!!!!!! I smell the food they are eating and it doesnt smell good, and no I don't want it, It's this stupid head of mine I guess...Saying you know you want a bite.. WHAT THE HECK??? I Do NOT Want a BITE....

I was very gassy for a couple of weeks after surgery. Walking will help out with that.  I was not allowed to eat mushies till 5 weeks if I remember correctly.  Be careful.  Try using a baby spoon for eating smaller bits. Stick to your Dr's diet very close.  Everything I ate at first got stuck it seemed. Drink , Drink , Drink or should I say sip sip sip.  LOL   Slow down even slower than you think you should and that will help!   Good luck and be patient it will all fall into place!!

Shelly,

It's absolutely normal to be gassy five days out. That's from where your doctor blew you up so he could see to do your surgery. Walking helps move that gas. It's uncomfortable but, it will pass. Now. for eating mashed potatoes, I wouldn't. If, your doc suggest that then follow his advice but, five days out I was only on clear liquids so my pouch could heal. As for the smell of food, even at over eight years out, I still want to vomit!

Sounds like you are on your journey doing as normal. How much weight have you lost? Hang in there, sweets, its all down hill from now.

Hi Georgia Girl!  I've actually been feeling great the last few days..  Mashed potatoes was on my dr list under the liquids, but i think the fact that they were too thick made it BADDDD  yes, I can agree with the smell of some food makes me want to vomit even though my head is like YUMMM...   I have lost 14 pounds so far... Been here the whole week, waiting for the 14 to keep on going...   Today has been good, had 35 g of protein before 10 am. I started sipping on my protein shake at 7:30 have had half a bottle of water, and then for lunch I've had my few bites of CarbMaster Yogurt...  This afternoon will start on the next protein shake... Oh The protein.....  LOL
