An Update on Me... The Life and Hard Times of a DS Diva
Well, you all know I posted a few weeks ago I was doing badly. Thankfully I am doing much better now. Still not at 100%, but much better. I went back to work last week, and I think getting back into a routine helps remind me to eat and drink at assigned periods.
Newbies drink, sip, drink. This foolishness all started because I wasn't getting enough water and food and it all went downhill overnight.
IT IS NOT FUN! IT IS NOT A JOKE! amd IT TAKES FOREVER TO RECOVER FROM SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY PREVENTED!!!
Now, I admit most of my problems were from good old fashioned stubbornness. Yes, I know I have to drink 64oz, eat a zillion grams of protein, take those yucky vitamins, etc... But somewhere in my divalicious mind I thought I would skip that part of the program, and cruise right along to the size 8 without putting in the work.
It is hard to explain, but the thought of eating was just the grossest most nauseating thing for me. I still have my moments, but I work through it.
I am now able to eat a normal sized meal ... 3 oz meat, 1/2 cup veggies and a forkfull of starches. If I had to feel this way and be restricted to aneorexic sized portions I would be sitting on somebody's couch for sure. I do love that part of my DS. I have also luckily avoided most of the unpleasant side effects of the DS. I only threw up once after being on the carousel at the zoo (imagine that) and it was jus****er. I also have minimal gas, bloating, etc.
I don't want any newbies to attribute my dehydration issues to the DS procedure. It was 100% my fault and I woulda done the same w/ rny or band, or whatever. I simply was not eating or drinking! I have had no complications from the procedure itself. And, if I were to have to pick a surgery again, I still would not have a rny or band under any condition.
Choosing a surgery is kinda like picking a car. Some people would never get caught in a Ford, and some swear by Chevrolet... They both get you to your destination. It's about how you feel when you're along for the ride. I feel good about choosing ride the DS. I don't love my DS yet, but we have been doing some serious bonding lately.
I still don't feel like running a marathon, and I have yet to get into an exercise routine. For now, I'll take getting out of bed, having 3 meals a day , and making it to work as a daily victory. I am down 55lbs since July 28, 2009, and have gone from a 26-28 to a loose 22 in less than 2 months!
By Christmas I'll be wearing an edible thong! Wonder what Santa's favorite flavor is???
So, I guess I'll live. My son will not be getting his measley inherritance anytime soon. I guess he'll have to wait another 70 years.
Thanks to everyone who prayed with me and for me. And a special thanks to everyone who called and yelled at me and even cursed my azz out for being noncompliant.
I love each and every one of you very very much!
