Verbal Approval!

My RN Case Manager from United Health Care called me today to say that I am approved!  She is sending a letter to me and to Dr. Johnson, then my surgery will be scheduled.  I am hoping for sometime the week before Thanksgiving to minimize the number of days out of school (teacher).  I am amazed at how wonderful my insurance company has been and how simple, although LONG, this process as been.

If anyone knows of a support group in Macon - please send me the information.

 

                          

I don't know of a group in Macon. Try calling the hospitals and ask maybe.  There is a group in Stockbridge exit 224 on 75 north about 45 minutes from you depending on where you are in Macon. There are a couple of people from Macon that come to our group. PM Jeanie and maybe she can get their contact info for you and you can arrange to carpool.

Otherwise, start your own group!  Just plan a Meet & Greet in your area and you may be surprised at who will show up. You don't have to go through a lot of trouble, just pick a time and a place and post it on the boards.  I know there must be lots of people on the south side who need support.  If you need ideas on planning a M&G PM me.

You have some great ideas!  Thanks for the reply.  I have noticed that you are great about supporting everyone on OH, and you are correct about people in south GA needing support.  I will definitely keep you posted.

I live in South Georgia also and do not know of any group in my area.  Most doctors here just do the lapband. No Center of Excellence around her that I know of.

I never got an approval letter.  My case manager just called me and the doctors office and told us I was approved and then they scheduled my date.

After the surgery and when my doctor filed the claim, it was rejected and the reason was WLS is not a covered item.  I called UHC and they sent the claim back to be reevaluated and it was processed the next day.  UHC said the WLS claim is automatically rejected and then reevaluated and paid.  I thought that was kind of strange.

I had surgery Monday and could have gone back to work the next Monday, but had to stay in Rome until Wednesday.  I did go back to work 1 1/2 weeks after surgery and have been fine.

Thanks for the heads up on dealing with UHC.  I am so glad to hear that you are doing well.  I would love to go back to work after one week...we'll see.  I hope to get a date by the end of this week.
