This calls for a celebration!!!
Congrats on getting your date so fast. Now here
is my pre-op advice from a 1 month out newbie...
1. Start your liquid / low carb crash diet NOW! You only have a week, so you don't have much time to play with. You need to shrink your liver, so you don't have the luxury of a last supper splurge . SORRY!
2. Make plans for time off work, sitters, etc. Pay all your bills for the month, as you won't feel like it post op and may forget.
3. You should only be n the hospital 1-2 days. Don't go out and buy a lot of stuff to take to the hospital. You won't use any of it. You likely won't get out of the hospital gown. The only thing I used that I packed was non slip socks, a long handled bath scrunchie sponge, the sundress I wore home, and chapstick. (I didn't even wear the panties or bra) The hospital has everything else, even toothbrushes, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. I am glad I didn't bring my toothbrush from home, since I woulda trashed it after it had been around hospital germs. PACK bare essentials. I PROMISE you don't need a bunch of stuff!
4. It is kinda a blessing to only have 1 week. This way you don't have a lot of time to stress about it. You need to clean the house because you may have company, and do laundry unless you have someone else to do it post op. You don't need to lift heavy stuff when you get home.
5. I am the wrong girl to ask about protein shakes, since me and protein are not friends. I suggest whatever you get, to buy non flavored if possible. Also try to get a sampler pack set. They cost too much to buy a big tub only to find you can't stand it post op. Nectar was doing a 12 pack sample set for $9.95 with 1 of each flavor. Unjury will also send samples. The dietitian at my hospital sent me home with 20 packs of Unjury. I think she liked me . I am irresistibly chummy after all. Ask your dietitian or nurse if they can give you some extras for home. Plus the ones they put on your tray (you may not be up to using them) don't trash them. Bring them home. If you can get to a support meeting, ask some of your support buddies to bring some samples to try. My buddies did and it was very helpful.
6. If you are not a picture taker, now is the time to take lots of pre op pics. This is the last time you will look like you do today. You will change FAST. You will want to look over these months and years from now when you are in a down slump to remind yourself how far you've come.
If you need me I am only a PM away, though I admit I have shied away from the computer lately. Call on all your wls friends and get to a support group meeting if you can find one this week. There are lots of us out here that will love and support you through this.
