Changing Surgeons

Hi OH Family.. It seems like this is a never ending process.  I've had the approval for over 2 weeks, I've called and called my surgeons office, now the girl isn't working there anymore that was handling my stuff, the bariatric coordinator promised to call me back and she hasn't, the other girl I talked to said they are now scheduling into October and November, but she still has no idea when I'll be scheduled.  I'm really questioning myself at this point on whether I should change surgeons and how much that is going to involve.   SOOOOOOOO Extremely frustrated... I want to go ahead and have my surgery before the holidays if possible, so I can at least get back on track and be feeling better. We normally have tons of people over for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm venting once again, but I guess I'm asking, who have you all used???  Why am I having such a hard time with my Surgeons office? Am I doing something wrong? I feel like I am the one who has jumped through all these hoops and still not getting anywhere.  HELPPPPP

good luck!
I used Atlanta Bariatrics, Dr. Johnson, and while I loved him, his office staff was horrible, so I have told them that due to that, I couldn't in all honesty recommend them. Hopefully you'll get your surgery scheduled soon!

Dr. Scott Steinberg is a Great Doctor.  He is my Surgeon.  He does Surgery @ Dekalb Medical Center, in Decatur.

His Office Staff are Great.  They will be their to answer and to get your Insurance approved.

I used Dr. Celio Burrowes, who is very knowledgable and experienced.    He is in the same building as Dr. Duncan (but not the same office).  His office staff is wonderful and it was only 6 weeks from my first visit until my surgery date.  They are a Center of Excellence and use Atlanta Medical Center.

I changed from Peachtree Bariatrics for exactly the same reason.  I had a very difficult time getting phone calls returned and made the decision to research other surgeons when I called and was forwarded to a voice mailbox that was full....  I went to Atlanta Bariatrics and Dr. Johnson.  I am sorry to hear that some have had issues with the office staff - I had a wonderful experience with them.  My first appointment with Dr. Johnson was Dec 29th and by the beginning of February we had my insurance approval.  I didn't have surgery until 6/1 but that was due to my scheduling issues.  I would and do recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone that asks!!!  I am positive in the end that I made the right decision and had the best surgeon do my surgery!!

I saw Dr. Macik at Northside Bariatrics and was very pleased. My surgery was at Emory John's Creek. I also had to use a Center of Excellence due to insurance requirements.
Good luck to you.

I used Dr. John Ryland Scott and Floyd Hospital.  I had to go to a Center of Excellence for insurance also.  Dr. Scott was great and his staff is extremely helpful.
It might be a little far for you.  It was actually 4 hours for me, but my family lives in Rome so we stayed with them.
I attended a support meeting in June and had surgery in August because I had to finish my support/counseling for insurance.  His time from meeting to surgery is usually pretty quick.

I will be using Dr. Scott Davis with Emory Bariatrics.  He is so humble and attentive.  His office staff are very on top of things & organized.  Aleatha at his office has ALWAYS been able to answer every question I have.

Hello,

I am going thru Emory Hospital/ Johns Creek,GA.....Atlanta, Georgia Bariatric Surgeon - Ahad Khan, MD - Bariatric & Laparoscopic Surgery .....they are a center of excellence too...

The office seems to be well run....not too impressed with the aftercare in terms of support groups and helping to set up an eating plan...I met with the nutrionist, and hoped to get an idea of what to eat and suggestions to prepare for surgery but didn't get any info....maybe I am "jumping the gun"....I have completed the requirements, now I am just waiting to hear back from the office manager. I called her today, but haven't heard anything yet....

I am impressed by the # of surgeries both Dr.Khan and Dr. Williams have under their belts, and have not heard any complaints....IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS OFFICE AND THESE DOCTORS PLEASE SHARE!

If you are not happy now, make sure you change because after you have surgery there is no changing surgeons no matter what!  If they aren't helpful now, they sure won't be later!
