Protein smoothies
I was wondering if anyone had tried those protein smoothies from Special K? Are they a good idea or not?
I am due to have surgery on 10/5 and I know from my reading that I have to do the high protein diet (liquid) two weeks before surgery. I was wondering if you can mix that protein powder with low-fat vanilla yogurt, sugar free juice (or diet apple or cranberry) and frozen fruit to make a smoothie with. A group of us made them at work and I didn't see why it couldn't work with that protein powder stuff. But I wasn't sure if it would be counter productive to mix the power in a smoothie.
Just wondering what every one thought!
Thanks!

Pre-op may be ok, but post op, they do not have enough protein. Plus you need whey protein isolate. The protein in those shakes is not the quality you need post op. You can have them when you are a few months out as a treat, but don't count it toward your protein consumption. Also watch the carbs. Since you are having rny, thay may cause you to dump???
