The same thing happened to me and it was determined that I had a stricture.  I had to have a dilataion done.  But, I was not able to hold down anything and I kept getting dehydrated.

Catonya,

I have not had surgery yet...but I know alot about GERD. It maybe something you are eating?
I took Carafate and Protonixs' last year. It really didn't do much for me. The Protonix helped a little, but the Carafate (which coats your stomach) only made my joints stiff. So, I stopped taking the Carafate. Currently I take Omerprazole (Prilosec) once a day and Ranitidine ( Zantac 150) twice a day-that combination gives me true relief. I have a hernia that needs to be repaired. So, Dr. Macik told me he would repair that when I have my surgery and that should take care of the GERD. Have to wait an see on that one

But I do know there are foods I can't eat. Anything that already has an abundant amount of acid; only aggravates  and increases the acid I already produce.  A few years ago I had a very divesting Digestive Track problem-unknown gastric ulcer, that lead to rapid weight loss that lead to gallbladder removal and that is just the half of it) So, if you still have your gallbladder see if they will check it.
