Well this bites!!

I did all my clearance appointments last week and have my surgery date. This afternoon the cardiac nurse calls and says I can't have surgery because I have a partially blocked artery! I am one of those people who believe that everything happens for a reason. So I feel it was meant for me to have this stress test so the blockage could be found early.  Otherwise I may have had to have a heart attack just to find I have a blocked artery. Oh well, I believe that everything will be okay with the angiogram and I won't need a stent. Then I will be able to have my WLS.

do you mean you cant have it at all or you will need special precautions?

It means no, I can't have the WLS. At least not now. If I have just a minimal blockage (60% or less) then I will have to go on medication and will be have to have the surgery. If the blockage is significant, then I will get a stent and will be on Plavix for a year. So then I will not be able to have the WLS.

Well try to act like Polyanna and look on the bright side. YOu may have discovered a health flaw that will save your life.

I know the weight may have come off sooner with wls, but try to lose a little on your own. I'm sure your doctor already gave you that lecture.

Would you be ok to go through a less risky surgery like lapband maybe?

I know this sucks, because with any kind of cardiac risk they won't even prescribe a diet pill to help you.  Alli is least risky on the heart if you want to go that route???

You got a good attitude about the situation.  Remember you can live w/o WLS but once your heart out goes living is not an option.

I am so sorry for the delay in your surgery, but I am also glad that they found your problem before it was to late.  Like you said Everything Happens For A Reason.  I truly Believe in that.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. I am just going in with the attitude that everything will be ok. Just temporary glitch. My surgery is not scheduled until November anyway. I have plenty of time to get things in order before then.
