Well,  it's true, I am a true board certified DS Diva!  I  FINALLY had my Duodenal Switch surgery Tuesday, July 28, 2009 with Dr. Hugh Houston in Nashville TN.

So, I guess some people are curious why I didn't announce last month when I got approval from cigna and got a date. I guess I have my own selfish reasons plus there was the stress from switching to a new surgeon at the last minute,

I went to the hospital  with just my mom. We both turned our cell phones off for the whole week. Only 4 people knew I was n the hospital, and they all had STRICT instructions to LEAVE ME ALONE!   I guess I'm weird huh?

Having said all that, I truly appreciate all the love, support, knowledge, and friendship I have received from everyone on the board. I could not have done this without all of you.  Several of you guys came into my thoughts when I was in the hospital.  I was thinking of Deborah and Leah's pretty arms, if my arms can be that slim post op, it must be worth all this.  And an infamous friend's Viagra and mall escalator experience gave me a few laughs which took my mind off the pain post op.  Knowing so many other people had done this and survived helped me get through the first couple of days in the hosoital.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everybody for everything you've done to help me through this

You don't have to explain why you did anything, sweets.  Kind of like when a woman gets married, it's the bride's show.  I feel the same way about being a patient.  I make my game plan to suit me.

I'm happy to hear all went well.  Isn't Dr. Houston just the greatest?  Well, I think so & I'm sure he took real good care of you.  Happy homecoming!

Yes he is wonderful. Those blue eyes are mesmerizing. Not a bad last image before you go under anesthesia.

Nice to know you are doing well.  Not hearing any "ticking" in your stomach are you?  If not it means your doctor did not lose his wris****ch inside of you.  No vibrations or muffled ringing sounds means he still has his cell phone as well.  See ya at the bowling alley!

The only weird sounds are bathroom noises. Never thought I'd be so glad to poop!  That 1st poop was right up there with loosing my 1st tooth, graduating college, and having my 1st child. I knew officially Dr. Houston had patched me back together correctly.  What a relief.

Lashelle - you sound like  you are doing great! I am so happy for you. It is a very personal decision. I only told immediate family and two or three close friends when I had mine done so I understand where you are coming from. Best wishes to you on your new journey.
