Are there other resources to help pay for surgery?
I have Blue Cross and it says that Biartric surgery is NOT covered by them......I wasn't denied.....they said they do not cover for anyone with our type policy. I am a single mom with 5 kids. My youngest is suffered a brain injury in 2006. I do not have the money to pay for this surgery but am worried if I do not do something I will not be here to take care of my baby. She is in a wheel chair and non verbal. I can not go get a job to pay for this.......I do not qualify for medicaid.......are there any options?

1. Check w/ your job to see if there are ANY plans that cover wls. If so, choose one of those plans next year. At my job only the High deductible and HRA plans cover wls. The ppo and hmo dont.
2. Borrow money from family or finance
3. Use your 401k
4. Go out of the country, it's much less expensive
5. Apply for SSI if you have a lot of medical issues, you'll probably get denied, but you have nothing to lose.
6. Apply to talk shows, community organizations, have benefit yard sales, etc EBAY old stuff? Get creative with it!
I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is the reality of the matter. there are not any indigent patient organizations for this like cancer, or aids, etc. WLS just isn't looked at the same way.
