LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
You only had surgery on 7/23 so how could you be starting a 2 week post op tomororw? I had surgery the day before you, 7/22.
DO NOT eat any solid foods at this point. That could cause you harm. We are on a liquid diet for a reason. Our GI tract is swollen and tender and needs to heal, so we want it to work as little as possble. Stick with the liquid diet and wait until your first follow up appt before advancing to the puree or soft stage. Being only a few days post op, protein isn't that important. Your job right now is to heal. Once you get to the soft or puree stage you can start adding in proteins with shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese, ect. I bought Nectar protein powder in the Twisted Cherry flavor and have been drinking that post op. Its not a milky protein like vanilla and chocolate...its more like a juice and it could be classified as a 'clear liquid'. One scoop has 23g of protein. I mix that with 12 ounces of water and try to drink it twice a day. 2 12-oz bottles of that is 46g of protein! I haven't had a problem getting that in because I drink every 15 minutes. That's really your only option for pretein at this stage.
Keep up with the liquids until your doctor says to move forward. I know it hard cause I mself am super bored with the clear liquids and want to eat something so bad, but we gotta hang in there.

Sweetie, you already knew the answer to this question before you asked it ... right? Liquids means just that ... Liquids. I can only imagine how very tired you are of The Liquids but consuming ANY solids (even crumbled up grilled fish) is not acceptable and you know that. You did not go through Everything that you have gone through preparing for, waiting for approval and surviving the actual procedure to proceed on a road of self ~ destructive behavior. If you need suggestions on how to get creative with The Liquids, please contact your Nutritionist. Doing irreparable harm to yourself is not something that you wish to do I am sure. Take Care of Yourself.
For you all that are new let me just stress to do only what your doctor says. He gives you the rules for a reason even though you may not feel it now it could be doing damage. Not only that but it is going to do damage to your long term success. Take this time to follow the "rules" do not start bad habits now trust me they are hard to break.
Think of it this way. You are only on liquids for about 6 weeks or so. That is it! The only time I have to do liquids is 24-48 hours after a fill. You will have plenty of time to eat solid food. It sucks now and that 6 weeks seems to take forever but it will help you be successful. Hang in there!

Thermuck! I am so happy you went and got some protien. Try and get creative with it. There was a lady in a support group I was at a couple of months ago that had RNY a week prior. She was coming up with all kinds of creative stuff to do with protien. She was mixing it in spagetti sauce and stuff like that where she could add herbs and seasonings to her protien. I remember when she was talking about it and some of them sounded good. Get creative and do not give in, you do not want to undo what you just did or worse. Chef Dave also has a book out for people on liquids it is a really small paperback book. Check out his site chef dave.com I believe he has some liquid recipies. I will try to find my book and see if I can find anything for you.
Good luck and hang in there! It will be over before you know it.
