Hi All!!
WOW, it seems like I'm never going to get to the point where I have my surgery... Finalllly my surgeons office submits everything to Insurance... So I call insurance to see about the approval and now I find out they didn't send paperwork for the surgery, they just sent paperwork for an EGD??? What in the world?? how come no one told me about this previously? Which by the way I don't need pre approval for and the insurance company told me today that if my surgery was an outpatient procedure, that I wouldn't even need an approval.... What in the world??? i'm totally confused.. Have spent hours and hours and hours.... trying to get this all together... I know you all know what I am going through and most of you have already been through it.... I just am sooooo frustrated... I don't know what to do!!! Anyone have any insight, or suggestions???

I am sorry you are having so much frustration. I know how that feels. I would just call the Dr.s office and ask politely what steps you need to take to correct the problem and then call the insurance company and let them know what you know. Keep records of all your calls and to whom you spoke.
BTW, when my brother has RNY, he was also told it was an out patient procedure by Dr. Duncan, but he stayed one more day because he didn't feel like he could go home. They are not going to kick you out the door if you are not up to leaving.
Take a deep breath and know that it will all work out in the long run.

Now, that you've taken a deep breath.. get back on the phone.
I would suggest you call the ins. company first and find out EXACTLY what they need.
In fact, I would ask, call back and ask again b/c I found that sometimes different reps gave different information.
Then I would get on the phone with my surgeon's office.

I just saw your post scrolling through ols posts. Did you ever get anywhere with the insurance company?
