Surgery on Monday!

Hey ya'll!

I'm a lurker, but since my surgery is rapidly approaching, I thought I'd post.  I'm having Lap RNY Monday at DeKalb Medical Center with Dr. Scott Steinberg.  Anyone else have him?

I'm really excited and so thankful to finally have approval (after two years of trying) and ready to go, but now I'm starting to get nervous!  I'm not second-guessing the surgery, I'm just worried that I'm going to die!  Haha.  Logically, I think that's not very likely, but it is a possibility and I want to live!

I'm trying not to let my fear control me, but I am having trouble sleeping and just having anxiety and worrying.  I will be so relieved a month from now.

Anyway, nice to meet you all!

I'm Jennifer, 31, female, married, live in Atlanta.  I'm 5'7" and weigh 298, down from a high weight of 313.  5 days til surgery!

Congratulations on your surgery date, mine is August 3.  I'm excited and nervous.  I think that is pretty normal.  Welcome to the board!!

Keep us updated on your progress.

Welcome to the board!
I felt nervous before my surgery too, I think it's pretty normal. Hang in there, it will be over before you know it! Can't wait to see you on the loser's bench!

Good luck with your surgery!  Everyone gets nervous beforehand.  If you don't want to deal with the nerves or they are interrupting your life, call your doctor and ask for an anti-anxiety prescription.  I had Ativan a month before surgery and took as needed.  It really helped.

Wishing you fast healing and a smooth surgery!
