Dr. Dennis Smith

Well, it turns out Dr. Smith is in my network.  Aetna needs to update their lists.  Please give me your opinions of him and any helpful information.  I am going to call their office tomorrow, but it's difficult to try to get all these questions answered by phone during my work hours.

- Did it take long to get the initial consulation?
- How did the initial consulation go?
- Did anyone switch to Dr. Smith from another surgeon?
- What does his program require/Any program fees?
- How far out are they scheduling surgeries (For anyone who's surgery is coming up soon)

Any other information you can provide will be most helpful.  Thanks!

I did not use Dr. Smith but have heard good things about him and on occasion go to his support group. There is a group in Yahoo his patients have set up, kind of like an OH type setting but in Yahoo and for his patients. This may help you. I started going to their Support group because I was working nights and they have one on Saturday mornings, the 2nd Saturday of each month. It is about an hour away from me and now that I can attend the one closer to me and at the hospital I went to I go there. The people on this blog site are very helpful and I am sure they would be a good resource for you. Good luck! If that does not work out my surgeon is great. Dr. Williams and now Dr, Kahn in the practice are wonderful doctors. The entire staff make you feel very comfortable and welcome.

How long has he been in Aetna network? He was outside the network in the beginning of the year up until Feb. I hope he is in Network for you and Good Luck.

I'm not sure exactly.  It doesn't have him listed as approved in network surgeons online, but when I called member services, they told me he was now in network.  Guess Aetna needs to update their site.

Dr. Dennis Smith is excellent and I am really proud to say that he is my surgeon.  Extremely professional, a bit on the shy side but the absolute best.  I would not go to anyone else.  The entire staff from Tara to Dee to Julie - you will find them all very helpful.  They did not seem to ever be tired of my endless questions.  

To answer your questions:

 - I was very pleased and it was at my initial consultation I decided to go with Dr. Smith
 - N/A
 - Yes, program fee, office visit - (for me anyway)
 - It took 3 months from my visit to have my surgery.
