Support Groups
Hi all! I've been wondering about support groups for those that opted for out of state surgeons. Where do you go? Do you go to a local doctor's support group and if so where? I'm in the Acworth area and would really like to look into joining a nearby group. I'm still looking at surgeons, but may have to travel out of state for my surgery.
Thanks in advance,
Wendy

Most groups with the exception of Emory welcome anybody. Emory requires a $300 fee for theirs.
A majority of the people at a surgeon's office will likely be his patients, but a few will be non-patients. Hospital groups will have people from many different surgeons.
Just look on the website for a surgeon by you or a check with local hospital to see when they meet.
We have a monthly meet n greet for the GA OH board as well. This month will be at Bahama Breeze in Gwinnett. Everyone is welcome.

I am hopefully using Dr. Duncan and attended one of the support groups at Atlanta Medical Center last Saturday. There was quiet a few people there. Some were years post-op, some were recent surgeries, and some were thinking about surgery. Several mentioned having surgery by doctors from other hospitals and the leaders of the group didn't seem to care if you were a patient of AMCor not. I learned so much. They offer about 3 groups a month. Hope this helps. Buffy
