Your surgeon will tell you what to take and how much.  Every surgeon is different.

For me, I take 2 children's chewables, 2 calciums, a B-12 nasal spray once a day, and Vitamin D (the d isn't required by my surgeon, but I've been low in and taking the Vit D for about 18 months).

Sorry to hijack...but, did Dr. M specify the nasal for B-12? I already purchased a sublingual. Not a big deal...just wondering.

While you are in the hospital, Dr. Macik has them give you a B-12 shot.  So you are good for the first month.  At the 2 week follow up (with Honere'), she will talk to you about B-12.  She was all set to give me an Rx for the shot/needles but shared with me the other options before giving it to me.  I liked the nasal spray option and since now all my medical care for the rest of the year is "free", it doesn't cost me anything at the pharmacy (the slip said my insurance saved me $99.99 or something like that).  I figured I would try the spray and if it's enough to keep my B12 where it needs to be, I'll keep it.  Otherwise, I'll switch to the shots.

You need to ask your surgeon or nutritionist. It varies from surgrey types. Also they will want you to take more if you are deficient in anything pre-op.

They should tell you this at your pre-op class.

Some things you don't want to rely on advice from friends, Get it directly from the doctor. Your vitamins are nothing to experiment with!
