Has anyone kept a head count.  I think Izzy had one, but not sure if she still has it.

I know we encountered some resistance from the start, but am curious how many people are having their wls?

I wonder how much $$$ this is costing the state?

If you are shbp member, or spouse or child covered by shbp with surgrey date expected any time in 2009,

Could you post your surgery, date, type, and projected cost to insurance, not your out of pocket cost. ?

I have no idea what it is costing. I know my heart tests were over $2300. I will have to sit down and think it through.
Nutritional counseling - $200
Psych test - $250
Dr. M eval - $?
What else?
Hmmm...

Hi,
I'm having RNY hopefully in August by Dr. Scott in Rome.  I should finish up my 6 months of counseling/support the first of July.   Cannot schedule anything last two weeks of the month because I do payroll at work.
I have UHC SHBP and I will probably end up paying my max out of pocket. I've already spent all my HRA account and am working on my 10% now.  I love the HRA with the flexible spending account.
I don't have any idea what the surgery will cost the state, but I am becoming more expensive to them each year as I add on more comorbidities.

How much is your surgery and pre and post op testing costing the state?  Not your out of pocket, the amount the insurance will be billed...

I will hopefully have approval and surgery date soon. I think the price tag for RNY is about 24,000.

It is about time the state pays for the surgery. This past six months are short compared to the 5 years I have been waiting for the surgery to be covered.

I can tell you, the surgeon billed $4500...not sure yet what Cigna is actually paying him.

The anesthesiologist charged $1700...Cigna paid $1200.

The hospital billed $26,000...Cigna paid $12500.

And then, when I was on Cigna's website yesterday, I saw a denied charge from the surgical assistant for $1300.  It was denied because she was out-of-network.  Sorry, but that don't fly with me!  I have no control over who the surgeon has for his assistant.  I'll wait till I get an official bill and then take it up with Cigna.
