Question about 6 month support group meetings?

Hey Yall

I have a question. My son was sick last night and it has been a crazy day so I missed tonight's support group meeeing. I also will be on vacation for the next meeting. So if my support group meetings are not 6 straight months will that mess me up? I can change my plans for vacation and leave right after if I need too. So any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Yes, I think they have to be consecutive months. Not sure if you can do an online webcam meeting or go to a different meeting to make up the difference.

Your support group leader will just need to fill out a paper confirming your attendence.

You may want to find another meeting for June and July. There are bariatric surgery support meetings all over, you may have to drive a bit...but you won't have to start over.

I thought you had to go to a center of excellence? Can you go to any support group meeting? there is a meeting in our town but its not with the Center of Excellence so I didn't think I could go.

No, it doesn't state anywhere on our paperwork that it has to be a center of excellence. Just that you attend and get the paperwork signed. I called back in Feb. to make sure, but you may want to call your case worker (on the psychological side) to make sure.

Hi, please forgive my ignorance but what is the benefit of making 6 months of support groups. I do my support group meetings on line but did not know I had to attend live support groups for some reason.

Hey I am not sure if this will help you but here is the link for the check list that Cigna uses. They do tell you that it must be 6 consecutive sessions. The reason the woman on the phone told me was that they want you dedicated to loosing the weight so they have given us all of these hoops. I hope this helps
