What do you say when
I have been very open with most people about my journey of pursuing wls... most folks are supportive.. some have not been.. usually I'm not at a lose for words about anything but I'm kinda tired of explaining my decisions to people who have no clue about what wls is really about..
Example:
I was at my cousin's house over the weekend and I was telling his wife about my plans to have wls. Well, she started frowning up and asking me why was I going to do that.. have I tried dieting and exercise.. have I really stuck to a diet and worked out like I was supposed to? She was basically implying I was taking the easy way out... I was so annoyed.. I finally just said, look I would not be doing this if I had any other choice...
I would love some feedback about what you guys say when other people do this...
Thanks.

I was very open about my Realize Band, and like you, most people were supportive. There were, however, those few that seemed to think that I just got up one morning and thought "Gee, why not just call the doctor and have him stick a belt on my stomach". Usually, the people who are all negative are the ones that have either no clue, or worse, get all there opinions from the afternoon talk shows.
I had one lady that went on a crusade to try to get me to not do my surgery. She seemed to think that if she just told me over and over again that it wasnt a good idea that I would back out. I assume she had never looked at the process that all of us have to go through to get into a bariatrics program and then to get insurance approval, not to mention the HOURS and HOURS of research everybody puts in to figure out which surgery is best for you.
As far as the negative people are concerned.......thank them politely for their opinions and then forget them and continue on your way to being healthy. 6 months after your surgery, when you are looking all slim and sexy, they will be the ones that are either talking all catty behind your back, OR, they will be the ones begging you to tell them the secrets of how to get a surgery just lke yours.
