Hey Everyone I have CIGNA HRA.  I am trying to get everything started.  I have met with my doctor and he has agreed to work with me and monitor my diet and excercise plan.  I am hoping to start my diet and excercise plan in March so that I can be ready for surgery by October.  Does anyone have any ideas for approved diet plans and how to document excercise for the insurance purposes.  I was thinking about joinging weigh****chers online and joining curves.  Will that work?

I am under the impression that you don't even have to do that much.  Just decide with your dr how many calories you should be eating and how much exercise.  Granted, if you want to do those things, thats great too!

I wonder how many of us are in the program to get WLS?  I am sure they are drowning in claims!!!
Started researching the DS in Dec 2008.  2 years and one baby later(my 3rd), I'm finally switched!

Thanks for the Info I am going to call Cigna this week and have a long talk with them to get exact details of what I need to do.  What documentation they need.  When I can start all the process that go after the 6 month diet.  So that I can figure it all out.  I am so glad to have other people in our insurance plan going through this so I can compare details and ask questions.

I am just using my primary dr. She just writes down my weight and bmi. She has e on a 1800 calorie diet and I am (supposed to be) walking.

Unless you just want the support of weight wachers, you really don't have to spend the extra $$$.

I have UHC HRA.  I have a case worker with Optum and another case worker with Optum Behavioral Health.  They require 6 months of nutritional counseling (I am going to my internist for 6 months and he is documenting my exercise, high protein/high produce/controlled carb diet that my nut recommended and weight loss).  They also require 6 months of pysch counseling - I passed my psych evaluation (yay!) and am going to my hospital's GBP support group each month.  So I hope to have all that taken care of end of June.   Wouldn't be great to have surgery around July 4 and be FREE of all this excess weight?

I have Cigna HRA.

I am currently doing the 6 mo - thing. I want to see exactly how it all has to be coded, because I have seen my doctor every month AT LEAST for a year for one thing or another. I am diabetic and have high blood pressure, and I am weighed every time and we discuss it every time. I am wondering if I can count any of that before I "officially" began the process. I am going to call Cigna tomorrow to ask what exactly they need from the doctor's office about the supervised process. If I can count those pre-official visits, I can be good to go for submitting paperwok as soon as I see a psch.

I was supposed to go to Dr. Macik's seminar yesterday, but woke up sick and couldn't face driving 2 hours there and 2 hours back the way I felt. I have been to several seminars, so it wasn't like I was learning anything particularly new.  But, now I have to wait another month for that.

Oh, well. It does look like there are a lot of us!

I would like to know what we have to have documented as well.  If you find out anything, please let me know.

Sorry you've been sick.. Seems like there is something really bad going around.
