Dr. Scott and Floyd Medical Center

Anyone in Northwest Georgia interested, I talked with Dr. Scott's nurse and she said they were in the process of becoming a Centers of Excellence with United Healthcare. That would mean that they would pay for surgery with Dr. Scott instead of having to go all the way to Atlanta. I am just beginning the 6 month process and she said it would be done way before I was ready to have surgery.

That is wonderful news.  I hope they get it done soon.  But will Floyd Med. Center be approved as well though?

I would think so, where else would he perform the surgery? I would imagine it is a package deal since Floyd is part of his Bariatric Center.

I'm not sure about UHC but I know with Cigna some of the Dr's are Centers of Excellence and the hospitals they use are not on the approved list.  For example, in Alabama, Dr. Schmidt and Miles are a Center of Excellence but the hospital they use, St. Vincent's East Hospital, is not approved.

I don't know, I emailed his nurse and asked her. I will let you  know when I get a reply. I don't know what good it would do for Dr. Scott to be approved if the hospital wasn't.

Just heard from his nurse, Floyd would be part of the Centers of Excellence with UHC.

That's great news!  I will be checking with Cigna soon.  I would imagine the process would be pretty much the same for both insur. companies.
