Dr. Lin (Emory)

Hi guys. I went to the informational seminar that Dr. Lin conducted and I really liked  him, so I'm on to step 2 of the process. I have a question though: Do you know if they require you to use certain psychologists or can you pick your own for the pre-op psych eval? I live 4-5 hours away in south Georgia, so going to Atlanta for that would be tough. I've found someone closer to home that can do it.

I think they have a specific one.  My wife had her RNY there in 05.  My suggestion is to get the psych and dietition stuff all in one day.  There is a little short class they made her do...3 hrs i think.  Pile as much as you can into one trip. Good Luck

I had the RNY a month ago by Dr. Sweeney at Emory, Dr. Lin"s partner! They do give you a list of 3 that they use locally. I live an hour north of ATL. so I did get to use a local Psych.! I met Dr. Lin at my seminar and he was very nice and very well educated on baratrics! Good choice! The Emory staff at the hospital was excellent as was the care! Highly recommend! Hi. I'm using Dr. Lin also for my RNY.  My surgery date is Tuesday Jan 27th only two more days!!!!  He is absolutely WONDERFUL.  Will talk to you like you have known him all your life.  I'm also a part of the research program he is doing.  There was a choice of three psychologists on my list and I chose Dr. Gary Santavica in Atlanta real close to Dr. Lin's office.  I live about 1 1/2 hours away and I schedule my appointments all on the same day when I can.  Call the Call Center and ask them if you can use one close to you.  Everyone there at the call center has been wonderful to me especially Jennifer and Elytha.  Hope things go well for you.  Keep in touch. I agree the girls at the call center are fantastic! They are loaded with the information that you need!

Dr. Lin was my surgeon.  I had a VSG in November.  They give you a list of psychologists they would like you to use.  I saw Dr. Santavicca for my psych eval and he was very nice.
 
I'm part of the study that Dr. Lin is doing as well.  I think I'm the second VSG in the study.  All the other study patients are RNY or Lapband.
