Hello Georgia Forum
Uh, has this forum always been here? I am a year out and I now just find you guys? Weird. My name is Karen and I had the surgery last January up in Rome. No problems, no complications, great results, that is of course until my old cravings made an appearance and I welcomed them back, instead of kicking their butt!
So I find myself in a new January doing the old resolution thing, and one of those is accountability. I am tracking my food on daily plate and trying to be more active on the boards, because I know people who have gone through it, or are thinking about it are going to be the most honest and responsive.
So if anyone would like to share their backslide moments, and how they overcame them I am all ears!
Thanks!
Karen

My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four unless there were three other people. ~Orson Wells
I had surgery almost 5 years ago. I had gotten down to about 170 and maintained it up until I had my 3rd baby. I was sitting at 193 pounds after having him. I decided last year for my resolution that I was going to get to my goal of 150 pounds. So I stopped drinking diet soda and any other drinks requiring sugar. I stopped snacking. I started substituting soup for my dinners. I then lost about 20 pounds. After that I started cutting my portion size way down and eating more turkey and chicken and veggies. I only would allow myself one slice of bread a day and minimal pasta or rice. I then made it down to about 160. After that I really cut my portions down and watched all my calories. I am now sitting somewhere between 140-145 pounds on average. I just told myself that I was going to do it. The big thing that helped me was setting small goals and attaining them. My first goal was to make it to 175 pounds by last Easter. Then I wanted to be at 165 by Memorial day. Then I wanted to be 150 by the time the kids started school. I managed to do it. Of course, after that I was thinking that a few pounds under 150 would be awesome. Now I can easily maintain my weight because it took me that long to take it off. I didn't do much exercise at all because I have several abdominal hernias. So as soon as those are fixed, I am going to get in shape now that I am at the weight I want to be.

Hey Karen,
We are virtually neighbors, I am just down the road in Dallas.
Backslide moments? I have more movement backward than I could ever have forward. I also am trying to change things up, get more accountable and find more time to get to they gym. It amazes me that even after all I have done/been through that I can still rationalize not going to the gym or having that extra helping.
Right now its super hard on me to get to the gym, my workout partner has decided she has better things to do. bleh, without the impetus of having to meet somebody at the gym (or on the silver comet trail to ride bikes, or whatever the days activity) its so easy to believe that skipping 'just once' wont matter.
