(I posted this in BAF and decided to share with MY GA people, since we seem to be getting better at posting and keeping the forum ALIVE....lol)

I was sitting down the other day and I said..Self, what is it that you are looking most forward to after surgery and I smiled to myself as all the things came to mind and I realized..most of them were vain. But I don't care!!! So I made this my motivation list.
1. Wear an ALL White fitted suit
2. Ride a rollercoaster (last time was 1996)
3. Get a Booty (I figured they might as well recycle my fat once I have my plastics, if I have them)
4. Have sex on the beach (was to afraid to look like a beached whale)
5. Cross my legs
6. Go to Hedo (hence #4)
They may just be little things and I could probably do them now well not #2 but those are things I am looking forward to

Roxy,
The things that motivated me more was just knowing that I was going to be getting my health back.

I have loved being able to do all the things that I onced did years ago. so life today is really wonderful.

Hey girl.
I think that I just like alot of us want the obvious... BE HEALTHIER
Cross my legs
No extender on the airplane
Can ride rides at amusement parks and not get kicked off because it wont buckle
Run (ah that would be great)
Skiing
Ridding wave runners
Exercising and be able to move the next day!! LOL
NOT be the fat lady on the beach that everyone stares at (beach sex sounds nice too)

But I was thinking what do I really want  past all the obvious things above.   now that I am seeing some of these things come true... well......Like the song says:

Oh and I want to be on top!  DID I say that??

lol @ being on top...lol...
Girl, these are just whimsical things that are cherries on top with us getting healthier. Ultimate goal is better health but these thoughts are so much fun to have.

I was thinking of this too, but  from a different perspective. I have wanted wls for a while, but I felt a greater sense of urgency after 9-11. I saw all those people walking down flights of stairs in the World Trade Center and across the Brooklyn bridge trying to escape the chaos.  Many people were injured and had to be carried out.  In the midst of all that tragedy I realized if I were in that situation, I probably couldn't survive. I know I couldn't walk down a hundred flights of stairs.  I definitely am too big for somebody to carry down some stairs if I am injured,  even if I made it out of the burning building, would I have been able to run from the plumes of smoke and shrapnel? Would I be able to hoist myself out of a plane sinking in the Hudson?

I know my chances of being in a burning building or plane crash are slim, But,  if I did find myself in the situation I would want a fair chance to survive.

Besides that:
1. Book a seat in the plane to Hedonism for me too!!!
2. Not get stuck in the turn style when entering buildings.
3. Take the escalator because I want to, not because I can't handle the
    stairs.
4. Buy eyeglasses and not have such a big head.
5. Have smaller feet.
6. Get rid of my diabetes and sleep apnea.
7. Shop for new clothes. Buy stuff because I like it and not because It was
the only one I could find that fits my size.
8. Go to a spa and have the little white robe fit.
9. Not have to sit on the sidelines when my family goes white water rafting,
hiking in the mountains, or horseback riding.  (yes we're black, but
we're multi faceted :-). I can fit in the boat to go rafting, but am afraid if I
fall out they won't be able to pull me back in.
10. Shop somewhere besides Avenue, Lane Bryant, and Catherines.
11. Wear a purse that fits over my shoulder.
12. Paint my toenails, put on panty hose,  and tie my shoes without
       struggling.
13. Go dancing and not have to go freshen up every 15 minutes cause I'm
       sweaty and out of breath.

the list goes on and on and on

I think you and others may have misunderstood or maybe I should of clarified more clearly. Better health and longevity is of coarse my ultimate goal or I would not want to put my life at risk to change my weight issues. Besides the obvious my list was just the things I was most looking forward to do that I can not do now, I was being whimsical. These things are like the cherry on top of loosing the weight and becoming healthier, like a door prize.

Isn't that the fun part of this whole thing? You are doing something to save your life and by doing this you are giving yourself a NEW life. A life like you have never had or known b4. Good Luck to you.

Looking back to before I had surgery, I was most looking forward to just being able to have my husband put his arms around me.  Now he can TOTALLY wrap his arms around me and then some.  Now I am just happy to have my health and be able to go through my closet and just throw on something without wondering if it will fit me today.  I am so excited to be able to do that.  Another thing that is wonderful now is that I can wear pantyhose for a day and not have a rash on my inner thighs from my legs rubbing together.

That being said, I am just happy for the decision to have surgery.  It has changed my life completely.  Hopefully I can be some motivation for all of you who have not had surgery yet.  I will be hitting my 5 year anniversary in May.  It has been an amazing ride so far!
