I'm in a funk!
Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on here in a while. I'm going on 5 months post-op and I'm starting to get into a funk. I feel this need to curl up in a ball and just cry. Home life is great, I started back to school during christmas and i think i'm about to drown. I don't want to give up any classes, i'm graduating in May so I can't slack. But i feel like all i do is school, take care of baby and home. Is it common for depression to kick in so late? I feel as though i'm letting myself down some how. With all the stress of school and everyday life I haven't been able to meet my first goal yet. Please "Calgon take me away"! I don't want to sound like i'm having a pitty party for myself but there is noone in my world right now who can understand anything u'm feeling.
Thanks for listening!

I am only 3 months out but I feel you. I actually go and see my surgeon in morning to find out whats wrong. From what I hear it could be a B-12 and/or Iron deficiency. Keep your head up we did this for a better fulfilling life!!
You might wonder why I'm responding living in Virginia well I am actually moving to Augusta June 1st. Looking to make new WLS friends.

Sorry you're feeling blue.
Do you suffer from depression normally?
Could it be seasonal depression. Maybe take a walk or sit outside a few minutes every day. You'd be surprised how a little sunshine will help. If your schedule is anything like mine, it's dark when you leave home and dark when you get home. I have to remind myself to sneak outside during the day just to see if the sun is still up there.
Are you having post Christmas depression. This month has been stressful for me because Santa spent all my money!!!! Plus I'm bogged down at work trying to catch up from what was neglected during last month's vacation days.
Are you just a little blue or seriously depressed?
If you think it's serious, like suicidal thoughts, or you're unable to function normally and get through the day, you should call your doctor or the mental health number on the back of your insurance card.
If you need to vent, whine, cry, yell, whatever.. ..we're all here on the board for you.
OH GROUP HUG!!!!!
HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER

Thanks for the advice. I don't think i'm no where close to offing myself.... Though your question was sincer, it did make me laugh so thanks for that. I just think it's alittle bit of the blues...I have been indoors doing alot of school work and taking care of the baby so i think i might head out side for a few even though it's super chilly out. Thanks again!

Girl cut yourself some slack.. Of course your overwhelmed. Your busting your butt to reach your goals. Not only WLS goals but school goals and did I hear you say baby? You have a full plate!!!! I think sometime we get overwhelmed living day by day with everything we do and push ourselves too hard. Slow down alittle. Take a min for yourself and only yourself! Dont think aoubt what you have to do or need to d just what you are doing at that time. Have a pedi or a mani or a long bubble bath
or just sit and relax with a nice cup of your favorite starbucks! Do nothing but think about YOU for a change. If you don't take care of YOU no one will. I know you have goals to meet and you will im sure of it but a few min will not prevent you from reaching them but IT will make you feel so much more energized and better about YOU. That is what this DR orders.. (Im not really a DR but I play one on OH) LOL ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/rofl2.gif)

Bless your heart! Depression is a big thing regardless of the reason. There is nothing wrong with antidepressants for a while. Talk with your doc. I could not survive without Lexapro. Also, the suggestion about sunshine is a good one for several reasons......it also boosts your vitamin D. The bubble bath suggestion is also good. You need to give yourself a break but when you are depressed it sometimes is impossible to do that without the meds to help. Better living through chemistry! Talk with your doc.
