That whole bariatric nurse thing is the "Optimum Health" caveat for UHC with the SHBP.  That nurse will be your case manager.  She/he will guide you through the process.

my only question concerns the HRA. after they use the funds provided in the HRA, will they us PPO after, or will we have to pay the rest out of pocket?

After the funds in your HRA account are used, you will be responsible out-of-pocket until you reach the maximum (which for the life of me I don't remember the figure right now).

thank you! OOP for my policy is $2000 ( probably the same as most people). I've never had surgery, so trying to deceipher this policy is a little difficult. Thanks for your help.

I have the Cigna HRA and the out of pocket max is $2000 for me too.  You can go online to pull up your benefits.

I don't have any new info, sorry. It would be nice to have your own personal nurse to guide you through. Maybe she will be helpful in keeping you on track with making sure you comply with all the pre-op requirements.    I got my flex spending account card finally. I am having them take $100 pre-tax out of my cks to cover the out of pocket expenses.  The Cigna rep suggested I do this.

I guess since we're all new to this, there's nothing to do except wait and see how everyone's experience goes.

Have you started your pre-op diet Izzy? Did you decide on a surgeon?
