My doctor filled out the letter and my papers are submitted...now what?

Well after my prior problems, I got my doctor to fill out the approval letter and Dr Hart's office submitted my papers on the 15th and I have called like every day to check on it.  Aetna says they got the papers in the system the following Monday the 22nd, and now say they will probably be done with the process on this Monday. How long do most of you guys say it takes from approval to scheduling of the surgery? I am also so interested to know exactly how it will be after the surgery and I so worried that I cant do it at all and will fail. Any advice?

Hello, Gin, I have United Health Care and the papers were submitted on November 24 and in two weeks I was approved.  I think that may be a little fast, but not unusual.  It depends soley on your insurance.  Just keep calling.  I had a surgery date before the dr's office submitted my paperwork, but your doctor/insurance co. may do it differently.  UHC needed a date before processing the request for approval.
Research the DS site for more info on what it may be like after surgery.  A lot of info is there.  You can do it and you will not fail.  I'm having DS surgery Jan 14 by Dr. Dennis Smith in Marietta, and I'm thinking positive thoughts that it will be the last go-round for this problem.  Best of luck to you!

Gin.

I have Aetna and I think it just depends on if you get someone that is willing to pu**** through for you.

Im sure you already have a  date as they have to have that in order to submit it. But the office will change it as needed.  It will only be a few weeks after approval so get ready. It will move so fast it will make your head spin. After approval it is the time to get your vitamins, foods, protein and if your like me my house clean... LOL

Being nervous, confused, concerned, scared...Is all normal at this steige!  If you werent I dont htink you would be normal.  Mixed emotions almost like a rollercoaster is exactly what happened to me too!  Its a very exciting yet scary time but all will turn out fine.  Keep your faith and you will be on the looser bench before you know it!!!

You have the best surgeon !!

   Many Hugs!

Hi.  I just have a quick question for Newlifebound2008.  I went to Dr. Dennis Smith's seminar almost a year ago and was under the impression that UHC was not in network for him.  Has that changed?
