Our last meet and greet was so much fun, we all decided to do it again. Since Roxy was our hostess, last time, I will plan this one. So, here are the details:

DATE:  Saturday January 24, 2009

PLACE:  Marietta Diner /   306 Cobb Pkwy S, Marietta
             GA 30060 /   770-423-9390

TIME: 5:00pm

WEBSITE:
www.mariettadiner.net  menu and video on
the website

BRING: Clothes for a clothes swap. Clothes are needed for pre-and post ops in all sizes. Check with your family and friends to see if they have any clothes to donate if you don't personally have anything. Please make sure they are clean, in good condition, and something you would wear yourself.

CHILDREN: Are welcome, welcome, welcome... (unless they have been recently featured on Nanny 911)

NOTE:
Door prizes will be awarded!!!!

                       ***PLEASE R.S.V.P***

I hope you will be there. With a large group, it is impossible to find a date, place and time convenient for everybody. I chose this time/location because:

1. It's hard for people to get through traffic and rush after work on a Friday night.

2. Most of the people attending the last meet n greet lived north of Atlanta. I personally live in Stockbridge, but don't mind driving for good support from a great group of friends...

3. The diner has a good reputation, diverse menu, and reasonable prices for all budgets and diet restrictions.

******This diner was featured on Food Network's Diners Drive- Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri. Check the website for details.

Hi everyone.  I have lurked for the last two years on this board.  I moved to Atlanta in December of 2006 and have not made it to one support group meeting since moving.  I want to meet people here that, like me, have had wls.  Can I come to this meet and greet?  I am in serious need of support these days.  I have lost about 145 pounds and am at my goal.  I had surgery 4.5 years ago.  My problems now are emotional.  I am having major panic attacks and severe anxiety.  I think having friends, like all of you, might help that.  So may I come?  And if I can, would someone please take me under their wing since I am so new to you all?
Thanks in advance.

Absolutely, Leah, come to the the meet 'n greet!  I'm sure LaShelle will add you to the list shortly.

I joined OH a few months ago and went to the meet 'n greet in December.  I believe that may have been the first one, but I really don't know for sure.

I am pre-op (sleeve), so I don't know if I can give you any information you don't know.  (4.5 years out.... I bet you'll have a ton of info for US!)  If you're in or near Cobb County, check out Dr. Dennis Smith's Web site.  www.advancedobesitysurgery.com.  They have three support group meetings every month and I have found them extremely helpful.  The next meeting is Saturday, 1/10.

Thank you thank you thank you!  It is so nice to know that I can come.  It is so hard meeting people since I moved.

Being 4.5 years out, I have a ton of knowledge. :)  Believe it or not, I actually maintainted 180 pounds for 3 years and then just at the beginning of 2008 I decided to drop it and make it to my goal.  So now I sit between 140 -145.  I guess I have a routine and a plan and I stick to it.  It works for me.

I am REALLY looking forward to meeting you all.  I will have to see what I have as far as clothing goes.  I gave most of it away already, but I might have a little bit left over.  I will have to see.  I know that I have a smaller wardrobe now because I have had to shop for smaller sizes.  I think all my clothing that fits me can be put into two rubbermaid containers.  It is sad, but nice because I am at my goal weight.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you all.  I will have to see where the support groups are because I live in Atlanta.  I live in the Northlake area.  Not sure if there are any close to here, but I DO need to go.
