I AM PRE-OP. I PLAN ON GOING OUT OF THE COUNTRY NEXT YEAR. I NEED A NEW PASSPORT. HERE IS THE DILEMMA...
I DON'T WANT TO LOOK AT MY BEFORE FAT PIC FOR ANOTHER 10 YRS ON MY PASSPORT, BUT I DON'T WANT TO PAY ANOTHER $100 FOR A NEW ONE JUST TO GET A NEW PIC A YEAR FROM NOW.
WILL THEY LET YOU UPDATE IT TO GET YOUR PIC CHANGED AT A REDUCED FEE? SEEMS LIKE THEY WOULD BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE AN ACCURATE PORTRAYAL OF YOU. I WONDER IF ANYBODY HAS EVER BEEN PULLED ASIDE BY SECURITY BECAUSE THE OFFICER DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THEM AS THE FAT PERSON ON THEIR PIC AFTER WLS.
SAME THING FOR DRIVERS LICENSE. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I MAY BE ABLE TO PUT MY TRUE WEIGHT ON THE DARN THING.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? I'M ACTUALLY CONTEMPLATING NOT TRAVELLING ABROAD NEXT YEAR BECAUSE I DON'T WANT A FAT PASSPORT.

If you don't take the opportunity to travel because your picture isn't the most flattering, just send me your ticket. I'll go. My passport pic shows all 3 chins and 105 + lbs. I could care less. It gets me in and out of the country. Vanity sucks. Thin rocks.

I have an 8 yr old passport---with my FAT face on it---I used it last year to travel---115 lbs lighter... I don't give a FLYING FLIP about what my face looks like in that photo.
I used my passport last year to fly to Europe and back, I had no problems.. I had my FLA driver's license handy too, as back up. It has my FAT face on it, too.
I got looks at the Munich Airport while trying to leave the country. I just told the officer I had lost over 50 Kg (Kilograms--which is about 2 lbs for 1 Kg.) The officer looked at me.. smiled and said "Glückwünsche"---Congratulations!!!
I do get to renew my passport this coming year and will then get a new photo.
VANITY is thy name... get over it, move on---use your old passport photo and DL photo as a reminder of where you've come from.
And as the other poster said---Give me your ticket---I'll use it.
