Ok ladies and gents, this board has been kinda quiet, so let's start a topic of the day.

What is everybody planning for Thanksgiving Dinner?

Any special traditions you're looking forward to?

How has WLS changed the way you will celebrate?

Thanksgiving is a big deal for my family. We all get together at my mom's. We'll be having:
                                                    Turkey
                                        Dressing
                                        Giblet Gravy
                                        Ham
Chitterlings (gross no I do NOT eat them!)
                                         Collard Greens
                                         Mac N Cheese
                                         Potato Salad
                                         Mashed Potatoes
                                         Corn
                                        Crescent Rolls
                                          Sweet Potato Pie
                                           Pecan Pie
                                           Red Velvet Cake
                                            Sweet Tea

We do the covered dish thing, so mother doesn't have to do so much work.  I am the designated Mac and Cheese maker.
The guys usually watch football and drink beer and some of my dad's homemade muscadine wine.  The ladies all sit in the kitchen and gossip.

After dinner we all fight over the sales ads in the AJC and plot our black Friday strategy.

This will hopefully be my last Thanksgiving before wls, so it's kinda special to me.  It will be kinda strange next year not to be able to pig out with everybody.

I hear you about the pig out. I think about that a lot. Christmas is out big eating holiday, so that has been on my mind. I will miss my mom's fruit salad the most. I think she will have to make it for me one last time before I have to do my pre-op preparation this summer, even though she normally refuses to make it except for Christmas.

My hubby and I usually take our son and head to the hills for Thanksgiving. My parents don't do much any more since my sister lives far away and her sons are all grown and go to their wives families for turkey day. My in-laws are the arguing kind, so we don't like to be around. Individually they are the best, but put them all together...sheesh. So, usually we hit up a restaurant or a dinner show in Pigeon Forge, but this year will be different. My DH's grandmother died yesterday, so we don't feel like we can leave town this year. I don't know what we will be doing or eating, but we will be supporting Granddaddy in his first holiday without Grandma

My mom and I started a new Thanksgiving tradition about 4 years ago.  I was working in a hospital rehab at the time and had to work.  I got brownie points, extra pay, only had to work 1/2 day, and got another day off elsewhere for working turkey day, so it was a win-win to work.  When I asked my mom if she wanted me to make a turkey (it's just the 2 of us) she responded that we could have turkey any day of the year and we would just go out to eat.  So, that started our traditional Thanksgiving Japanese dinner.  We go out for Japanese, which I will really enjoy this year knowing that within the next 4-6 months I will have my surgery and won't be able to eat all of that anymore.  I suspect I'll be able to eat some of the Japanese post-surgery...and it will last for 3 or so meals!  But it will be different.

So, Thanksgiving morning, I will cuddle in front of the tv in my sweats and watch the Macy's Parade.  Then I'll study for microbiology.  Then we will go out to eat.  And I'll go to sleep early because there are a few things I have to buy on Friday.  All my Christmas shopping is finished, I'm always shopping for myself the day after turkey!
