It's under control.

Did I mention that I *hate* to eat. You saw that yourself....

I think there are certain foods that each person has problems with.  For me, it's salty snacks and sweets.  I prefer not to keep them in my house because I will continue grazing on them until they are gone.  In general, this process requires total honestly with yourself first.  Being able to admit what foods you desire, which ones you can control and which ones you can't and then sharing that information with your dietician is critical to long term success with your surgery.  Otherwise, you  will only begin self defeating behaviors in the long run like binge eating, grazing, etc.

Another suggestion, if you are an emotional eater, try reading The Beck Solution or seeing a therapist.  I have found that both are proving to be really helpful to me in figuring how to address the emotional aspect of eating -- sad, lonely, despressed, bored, etc.  Again, if we can't be open and honest about why we eat, when we eat, what we are feeling when we eat and how much we are eating when we are going through these issues or feelings, then the people who we are entrusting with our long term care can't really help us can they?

Mick

Thanks.. I've been seeing a therapist for yrs... the weight is just one aspect of what we discuss. I am now seeing her pre and post op primarily for wls. I actually met her at Northside at a nutrional diet program.. just one of the many "diet' programs I tried.

I am ready to overcome my addiction. I look as wls as a tool to actually suceed at an excercise and food program. I know not to keep trigger foods in the house but I do the food shopping.. and that supermarket is full of trigger foods... don't they know that the chips aisle is my trigger ... can't they just eliminate that aisle all together... get rid of all the pasta too.

Thanks again for your help and advice

Good luck CC.  I think we all have the same problems.  We all tried every diet, we all succeded at one point, we all knew the right things to eat and the right things to do.  You are not alone.  It is something we will all have to deal with even after loosing the weight.
