Started Physician's Supervised Diet Yesterday

I went for my 1st visit for the 6 mos supervised diet yesterday. My primary physician Denise Deveranez in Stockbridge is great! She was very supportive and excited about my decision to do wls. I am so excited to finally get this ball rolling...

HEY GOOD FOR YOU GIRL! YOU AND I BOTH ARE IN THE BEGINNING STAGES WITH THE WLS. I LIVE IN JONESBORO GA. I WOULD LOVE TO GO THROUGH THIS PROCESS TOGETHER AS FRIENDS. WHAT TYPE OF SURGERY OR YOU DECIDING TO HAVE AND WHO IS YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER. I HAVE UHC AND I AM STILL DECIDING BETWEEN RYN AND LAP BAND.

Hi. I'm just begining this process too. I'm planning to see my physician this week, possibly today, to begin my 6 month supervised diet. I kinda started yesterday, on my own, cutting back to 1800 calories, which is huge for me. I'll see what the doctor says when I see him. I have to see him to see what the recommendations were to treat my recently diagnosed sleep apnea.

I also have enrolled in Cigna HRA SHBP for the upcoming year. I want to have the lap band, but will make the final decision between that and RNY after meeting with a surgeon. I am attending an informational session at Emory Crawford Long on December 18th. I am so excited for myself and you too!

I'm attending the Dec 18 seminar at Emory too.  Are you going to the Atlanta Medical Center Seminar this Saturday 11-15-08? I thought it would be a good idea to compare the 2 choices. Northside is out for me because of the distance. 

Seems like a lot SHBP people are taing advantage of the new insurance benefits? Would be nice if we could all get together sometime in the future to meet in person and compare our experiences.

No, I'm not going to Atlanta Medical Center. I wanted to compare, but I can't make 2 trips right now. I live in south Georgia, so it's a 4+ hour trip to get there. My mom ( a nurse for 30+ years) said I should definitely go with Emory. I've waited for several years to have this opportunity. I knew I would not be able to self-pay for many years, so I am very grateful! It would be neat to get together later. Let me know what you think of AMC!
