Way OT: Any knowledge of computer peripherals?

I had fully intended to purchase my 9 year old cousin an MP3 for Hanukkah this year.  Turns out he recently got one (glad I asked).  So, his mom gave me a few suggestions, music CD's, educational computer programs, said he was still very into drawing (and good at it) but nothing very exciting.  Then it hit me, what about a graphic tablet for the computer!  I found some for around $50 that seemed good.  Anyone know about these things?  And then, I'm going to need to find a drawing software program.  Anyone know anything about that?

I'll take any and all suggestions.

Hey, Elli,
I am looking at them as well. I found a pretty good one at Office Depot in Kennesaw for 79.99. I think it was a Bamboo brand. I also saw it on Amazon, so you can check it out before you go!
If his computer has Microsoft office, it should already have a program that can handle drawing.
Best bet? Go find a computer geek in a store! (And I say "geek" with great respect!)

Thanks!  I'll check it out.  I don't know if his computer has Microsoft Office or not.  I think his computer is the computer both kids use...not their parents.  So, chances are, it doesn't.  I was hoping to find a sort of "kid friendly" drawing program.

And yes, I know many "geeks" and that is used as an affectionate term as opposed to what it used to mean complete with pocket protectors.
