Hi Ruby,
Yes, this is a seminar to educate people interested in having weight loss surgery.
What I suggest to everyone who has had surgery and are putting on weight , is to go back to the basics.....go to support group. I am almost 8 years out. the further out you get the more you can eat. It is very easy to gain weight if I don't stick to the healthy habits I have established I gain weight just like anyone else on the street. We need to evaluate what we are doing. Perhaps we are eating more than we think we are. Journal what you are eating, Ask yourself am I exercising? Am I getting in a minimum of 64 fluid oz of non-carbonated, caffeine free liquids in a day, Am I drinking with my meals? Am I waiting long enough before meals and after meals to drink. What am I eating....is it high caloric foods....am I getting my protein in first...and am I eating a minimum of 60 gram per day. Am I really stomach hungry or am I head hungry? I have noticed that a lot of people who start putting on weight take in a lot of carbs. We need to always remember how we are supposed to eat, protein first, then veggies, then fruit and if.....only if there is any room we can eat a carb. Our hospital has a dietitian (and your surgeon probably has one on staff) that can evaluate what you are eating. If you write down what you are eating I am sure they can help you.
You can keep the weight off.....but I can't stress enough how important it is to take charge of yourself today and get back on track.....the longer you wait the more weight you will put on. I have seen it so many time and it makes me very sad.....we didn't go through all this to put weight back on. Use your tool to keep your weight off.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!
Take care,
Ginger
