I just registered for the ECL seminar in December. All the others are full, so if you are interested in them, you should go ahead and call!  I am thinking I like Dr. Sweeney and Dr. Davis. Anyone have any info or opinions on either of them?

I am also beginning my 6month supervised weight loss visits! Woo-hoo - let's get it started!

I registered for the same seminar. I also registered for the Atl Med Ctr 11-15-08 seminar. I want to compare the 2 before I decide.  I have NO idea which doctor to choose. I wish there were more female Dr's to choose from.

Dr.  Qammar Rashid is a really good female weight loss surgeon, from Peachtree Bariatrics, DR. Duncan's practice.  She has a good bedside manner but you must do your part in following the instructions of the LapBand program.   Also you can go online and research the diffrence between the 2 Lap Bands.  I had the Realize Lap Band on Sept. 22.  35 days out.  By  Oct 4th I lost a total of 36 lbs, I have not been weighed since, I will on next week Nov 4th.. The Realize band is the newer, and the port is made a little better.  But this is something you will have to discuse with your doctor.  My doctor explained the diffrence to me, and she uses the Realize for her patients.  But I was just so excited to finally get the surgery, I don't remember all the pros and cons of the 2.  Well God bless and don't worry, and make sure you do all your reserch, decide for yourself with your doctors help.

Was the procedure really painful? What are you able to eat?

I have had two different people (one a nurse) who told me to stay away from Atlanta Medical Center. Take that for the third hand information that it is, but I trust both of them enough that I am not going there.

I'm having my VSG done next week at Emory Crawford Long by Dr. Lin.  I'm very happy with him.  I know someone who is having a Lap Band by Dr. Sweeney soon.  She said she's very happy with him so far.  I think most people tend to go with the doctor who conducts their seminar.  That's what I did.  Each doctor usually has a couple of their patients come and speak during the seminar and they are willing answers questions about their procedure and the doctor.

I have Dr. Sweeney and let me tell you it has been nothing but a nightmare dealing with the Emory Clinic. They've lost my paperwork, been rude, forgot about me in the exam room for 2 1/2 hours (no one bothered to tell Dr. Sweeney I was there for my second office visit with him). I have completed all my pre surgical testing, gotten my approval and NOW I've been waiting a WEEK for Dr. Sweeney's secretary to get me an appt. with Anesthesiology pre op. I don't understand why it's taken her a week to call downstairs and get an appt.!  I would NOT recomment Emory Bariatrics to anyone. If I wasn't already so far along, I would go somewhere else!!!

Well, that stinks! I am sorry you are having so many issues with them!
From what I can tell, every single practice has issues like these. I haven't heard many people totally thrilled with the office staff anywhere.
Thanks for the advice!
