Anyone from South GA?

I live in South Georgia and am having a hard time finding a primary physician who will work with me on Gastric Bypass.  Two doctors have refused due to moral reasons.  Can anyone give me a physician's name in South Georgia that believes in Gastric bypass and is willing to work with you?  I plan on having the surgury in NC at Duke, so I just need a physician to write the insurance company a letter of necessity and work with me on the required lab work.  I have been super obese most of my life so my BMI is way over the required 40.

Thanks

I need a local primary physician not a surgeon who does the surgery.  I am planning on having the surgery in NC.

I live in Leesburg, Ga (right outside of Albany). I am with Tricare Prime.  I've been told by one of there reps that the surgeon has to be at a center of excellence and has to be a member of the American bariatric board of surgeons.  Do you know if the center you used meets those requirements?  It appears that I will have to travel a good distance-

All I can tell you is that Ft Gordon is a hot bed for WLS and it's free for retired folks and Tricare covers the others.  The clinic can tell you everything but look up Eisenhower general surgery clinic and talk with Dr. Chasen the chief, do it soon cause he is leaving the Army.  As far as I'm concerned he is great, the care was 100% and the Surgery a wonderful life changer..

I live near Savannah in Richmond Hill and my PCP is Dr Zertoli at IP Employee Family Med Ctr (private) HOWEVER...  my OB/GYN (Joe Edwards) told me he would write it for me as did Dr Holland in Richmond HIll.

I live in HInesville and my PCP is Dr Christopher Blasy.  He has offices in Hinesville and in Richmond Hill.  I didnt need a letter of medical necessity, but I did meet with him prior to my surgery to confirm that he would still continue my PCP care.  When we met he asked if I wanted him to write a necessity letter and he was very willing to help me out.  Dr Blasy has a lab in his office so that wouldnt be a problem either...... The only problem may arise with the fact that you are not his patient prior to asking for the letter..... not sure how he would feel about that.    All in all Dr Blasy has been very willing to help me out and follow my care closely so I believe he is a supporter of WLS when its necessary.

I am in South Georgia.  I go to Dr. Hood.  I love him - he is great.  He is with Eagles Landing Family Practice.  They have offices all over the southside.  Dr. Hood is on Hwy 81 in McDonough.  How south are you?
