Hi there Speck!!---CuriousCat too!!!

Your doctor should have discussed with you what kind of band they were putting in.   Yeah, I am having the Realize band.

My doctor, Scott Steinberg has been using it since May and says it is wider, doesn't "flip" like some earlier models, and has less of a chance of eroding into the stomach.    Johnson & Johnson makes the band.    I have already gotten 2 booklets explain the website and how to enter all your info.    I see you are hoping to have surgery CuriousCat.   Which type have you been leaning toward??

I have already registered on the realize band site and it gives you the option of the site notifying your doctor about your progress as you lose weight.    The site has recipes, and diets for bandsters..........

Speck??   How are you doing??  Any "PB" episodes (where you regurgitate) ??

Cheers to all..........

Hi keeley

Don't worry about the postponepent... just make sure the surgeon has all the facts so your surgery will be safe and successful.

Right now i"d like the sleeve but insurance doesn't cover so i'll probably be doing the RNY. I;m in the midst of doing the supervised diet/exercise etc etc pre op BS for insurance.

I'm not considering the lap band. I never liked the idea of having something foreign in my bod.. just my preference. I also think with over 100 pnds to loose it would not be enough for me...

. Let us know how it goes girl.

Hi Keely and welcome to your band.

I was banded on 8/26 and so far so good.  After just 1 month, it appears that the band is a little more 'user friendly' than some of the tougher options (RNY, VSG...).  So far I havent had a lot of trouble with dumping or with eating anything in general, I just stick really close to my doctors diet plan and it seems to work out ok.

I didnt have your doc, but I can feel your pain on those long drives.  I live in Dallas and had to go all the way out to Emory on the east side of Atlanta for my bariatrician visits and to Crawford Long for the surgery.  I am way glad I got my surgery in before the gas crunch hit.

Keep us updated and good luck on your surgery!!!!!!!!!!
